"Cultural diffusion is a process that takes place in many ways but can be halted by many barrie

Culture diffusion is the process of spreading the cultural traits from one place to another. Culture traits includes language, customs, beliefs, dress, image, music, food, and technologies. The statement "Cultural diffusion is a process that takes place in many ways but can be halted by many barriers.”, may be true. There are 3 different types of barriers, physical, sociocultural, and psychological barriers. In this article it will discuss if the statement is true or not by using 3 types of of barriers.

Physical barriers of diffusion are barriers of physical distance, and the orographical location of the destination. For example North Sentinel Island in India, there's a group of people we called "The Sentinelese", this group of people are isolated from the civilization. In 2006, 2 fishermen's boat drifted into shallows near the island were killed by the Sentinelese and then buried in shallow graves. This was captured by the helicopter, but as the helicopter approaches, they start shooting arrows at them. This is the evidence that there's barriers to cultural diffusion, before helicopter captures the image of the Sentinelese, no one knew they exists, it means there are barriers to even go to this place. However, there might be other reasons influencing it, such as language, thus they are recognised as one of the most violent group of people in the world.

The second barriers to cultural diffusion is the sociocultrual barriers. The best example describe the sociocultural barriers, is the Hindu' s reverence for cows. The biggest Hindu country, India. McDonald's, one of the most famous TNCs in the world, in the US menu or other countries such as China, the best selling burger "cheese burger" uses beef. However, in India due to the Hindu's reverence for cows, there's no burgers on the menu uses beef. There Hindu culture influenced the social behaviours in India, which caused them to reverence for cows, and no menu available contain beef, even the TNC fast food chain restaurants.

Lastly the psychological barriers, psychological barriers include fear, ignorance, isolation, or even xenophobia. The previous example of the Sentinelese can also applied here. The reaction they made when they see helicopter, they shoot dozens of arrows. That action is caused due to fear, since they have no idea of the modern society, for them helicopter is the huge unbreakable bird making huge noises. For them it is the fear, and threats, maybe they never seen those things before in their life. Also killing the fishermen, they don't know who they are, they might've think they are some sort of spy sent from the others with mechanic boat. Those isolated groups of people lives in places with physical difficulties to go to those places in the past, going to those places now, are too late, because we don't understand their language, and were nothing but a fear, threats to them.

Despite all these barriers to cultural diffusion, there are always ways to overcome those barriers. According to the national TV channel in Japan, NHK, along with the local group of researcher made contacts with isolated Indians in the Amazon rain forest. With help from giving friendly gifts such as bananas. Example such as this, there's always the way to overcome the barriers, which means it does't not halted the process of cultural diffusion. It can halter it, but not every time.
